Coming off a season-high performance, Brendan Boken (South Pasadena, Calif./Loyola), a freshman forward on The University of Scranton men’s basketball team, has been named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, December 16.

Boken connected on 11 of 15 shots from the field to finish with 24 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in 31 minutes of action in the Royals’ heart-stopping 94-93 loss in overtime to Keystone College Saturday evening at the Long Center.  He eclipsed his previous high of 22 points in Scranton’s win over Susquehanna University on Saturday, December 1, and his former best of 10 rebounds in a victory over 2012 NCAA runner-up Cabrini College on Tuesday, November 27.

In the latest Landmark Conference statistical rankings, Boken is fifth in rebounding (6.8), field goal percentage (.567), and blocked shots (1.3).

The Royals, now 6-2 overall and ranked 16th in the latest national poll by D3hoops.com, will return to action this evening at 8:00 p.m. against St. Joseph’s College (Long Island) in the opening round of the PNC Bank Royal Rumble in the Long Center.  The first game pits Alvernia University against Gwynedd-Mercy College at 6:00 p.m.
