COLLEGEVILLE, Pa.—Ursinus College got off to a quick start on its way to a 14-4 victory over The University of Scranton in non-conference women’s lacrosse action Wednesday evening.

Junior midfielder Mary Deliberti (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) and freshman attacker Taylor DeBernardi (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) combined for seven goals, including four in the first half as the Bears built up an 8-1 halftime lead.

Ursinus, now 4-8, also received two goals and an assist apiece from sophomore midfielder Amy Kohout (West Deptford, NJ/Freehold Township) and senior midfielder Kitty Dawson (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) and freshman goalkeeper Meaghan Corbin (Danville, Calif./Carondelet) finished with 10 saves.

Sophomore midfielder Meghan Kerr (Warwick, NY/John S. Burke Catholic) led the Royals, now 4-6, with two goals and senior midfielder Emily Goss (Morristown, NJ/Morristown) and freshman midfielder Erin Pfail (Garden City, NY/Sacred Heart Academy) added one apiece.  Sophomores Marne Rosetti (Wayne, NY/Wayne Hills) and Grace Campbell (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) combined to make five saves in goal.

For the game, the Bears held a 26-17 advantage in shots and a 21-11 margin in ground balls.  Scranton did, however, win 13 of the 20 draw controls, including five by freshman midfielder Kailyn Angelo (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) and two each by junior midfielder Erin Allen (Syosset, NY/Our Lady of Mercy Academy), Pfail and Goss.

Kerr’s two goals tonight ties her with Goss for the team lead with 23.  In addition, she moves into a tie for 24th-place on the Royals’ all-time scoring list with Heather Malone (2007-2009) with 75 total points.

The Royals will return to Landmark Conference action this Saturday, April 11, against the Merchant Marine Academy beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Field.  Prior to the first draw, Goss will be honored as part of Senior Day festivities.
