Earlier this week, The University of Scranton women's soccer team found out it was ranked in the D3soccer.com Top 25 for the first time in the six-plus year history of the poll. On Wednesday night, the Royals went out and played like one of the best teams in the country.

The Royals scored three first-half goals in a span of 15 minutes, then added two after the break en route to their eighth straight victory, 5-0 over Drew University in a Landmark Conference match at Fitzpatrick Field.

Scranton, which is ranked 25^th in the latest D3soccer.com Top 25, stayed unbeaten in conference play at 4-0-0 and improved to 11-1-1 overall. The five goals matched a season-high, and the shutout was the team's ninth of the season.

Five different players scored goals for the Royals, who have outscored opponents 29-4 during the current winning streak. Senior midfielder Kelly Egan (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) and junior midfielders Kelly Pompey (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) and Casey Trezza (New Providence, N.J./New Providence) each came off the bench to provide a goal and an assist to lead the offense.

Senior defender Carolyn Warner (Morris Plains, N.J./Parsippany Hills) continued her standout season when she got Scranton on the board in the 26^th minute when she scored her sixth goal of the season on a corner kick by Egan. Twelve minutes later, Pompey scored her second goal of the season on an assist from sophomore midfielder Erica Licari (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown East), and sophomore midfielder Taylor Stevens (Yardley, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) capped the first-half scoring in the 41^st minute on an assist by Trezza.

Egan tallied in the 53^rd minute when she scored off a pass from Pompey, and Trezza finished the scoring with her first goal of the season in the 80^th minute on an assist by junior midfielder Meredith D'Angelo (Hatboro, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy).

Stevens and Egan picked up their second goals of the season. Egan and Licari both picked up their fourth assists of the season, Pompey's assist was her third, and Trezza and D'Angelo both picked up their first.

The Royals held a commanding 17-4 edge in shots and a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks over Drew (5-6-1, 1-2-0 Landmark). Stevens led Scranton with three shots. The defense held Drew to just two shots in each half, none of which were on goal.

Scranton will be right back in action on Saturday, Nov. 15, when the Royals host Juniata in a Landmark Conference match at 1 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Field.
