In the opening half, Scranton was first to strike in the win, as senior Elizabeth Yorey (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) scored, unassisted, eight minutes into the ballgame. That lead held for the first 35 minutes, as the Royals went into intermission up 1-0 on the host Gophers.

Tied at 1-1 after the two overtime periods, the game went into penalty strokes. The Royals got goals from Tolley and Yorey in the first round, as Yorey's goal knotted things up at 2-2.
After a Goucher miss, Yorey had a chance to end the match on the second round of penalty strokes, and did so, as Scranton took the round, 3-2, to take the match in thrilling fashion.
Overall, Goucher outshot Scranton in the match, 24-16 and held a 16-10 edge on penalty corners, as well.
