Junior Shana Goldsmith of The University of Scranton field hockey team has been named Peggy's Scranton Athlete of the Week after helping the Royals earn a pair of wins last week over Marywood and Stockton to improve to 4-0 on the season.

Goldsmith tallied three points on one goal and one assist in Scranton's 4-2 win over Stockton on Saturday afternoon at Weiss Field in Scranton. The junior jumped in front of a defender's pass to create a one-on-one opportunity with the Ospreys' goalkeeper, then delivered a strike into the back of the cage on a reverse hit to tie the game at 1-1 in the first quarter. Goldsmith's goal came just 1:30 after Stockton had taken a 1-0 lead.

Goldsmith later assisted on an insurance goal by Olivia Burdo, threading a pass through traffic into the circle to the sophomore, who finished the opportunity to extend Scranton's lead.

The award marks the first career Scranton Athlete of the Week honor for Goldsmith.

Scranton field hockey returns to action tomorrow evening against King's College, with action set to begin at 7 p.m. in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
