The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team scored the first eight goals en route to a dominant 15-7 win over Morrisville State in a game played in steady snow on Wednesday afternoon at Fitzpatrick Field.

The Royals (6-3) led 11-2 midway through the third period and 13-4 at the end of three while improving to 3-1 at home this season.

Sophomore midfielder Michael Elefonte (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) finished with a career-high six points on three goals and three assists. Sophomore attackman Connor Kirkwood (Millburn, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) scored four goals, giving him a team-high 22 this season, and his 26 points are one behind Elefonte's team-high 27.

Scranton also got three goals from sophomore midfielder Quinn Killeen (Berkeley Heights, N.J./New Providence) and two goals and two assists from junior attackman Tim Dolan (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City). Senior attackman Matt Carfaro (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris) and sophomore midfielder Joe Hill (South Hempstead, N.Y./South Side) both had a goal and an assist.

Junior midfielder Adam Maiale (Blue Bell, Pa./La Salle College H.S.) had a goal, and sophomore midfielder Alexander Dadourian (Summit, N.J./Summit), freshman midfielder Daniel Mallay (South Hempstead, N.Y./South Side), sophomore attackman Mike Modesti (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and freshman attackman Brian Dignen (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) all had one assist.

Senior goalkeeper Jeffrey Sabatini (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield) made seven saves in the first 49:19 to pick up the win between the pipes. Maiale had a team-high four caused turnovers while sophomore defenseman Gordon Paul (Ocean, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) had three of his own. Paul had a team-high eight ground balls while freshman midfielder Collin Purdy (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) scooped up six while going 9-for-13 in the faceoff circle.

The Royals had a commanding 48-29 edge in shots and led the ground ball battle, 46-33. Scranton won 16 of 26 faceoffs and was 18-for-23 in clear attempts. The Royals committed 16 turnovers, their third-lowest total of the season.

Morrisville State (0-5) committed 24 turnovers and was 16-for-24 in clear attempts. The Mustangs had the only power play opportunities in the game, going 1-for-4 with the extra-man advantage.

The Royals will be back in action on Wednesday, March 21, when they host Misericordia at 5 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Field.
