DALLAS, Pa. – The University of Scranton men's golf team posted six of the top seven scores on the day and the Royals (304) rolled past Wilkes (338) in a dual match at the par 72 Huntsville Golf Club on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Nicholas Campanelli (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) led all players on the day with a low score of 73 (+1) and freshman Stephen Butler (Souderton, Pa./Souderton Area) carded a 74 (+2) for the Royals. The 73 matched the second lowest round of Campanelli's career and his lowest since shooting a 71 at the Landmark Conference Fall Preview on Oct. 5, 2019.
Butler has now started his career with consecutive rounds of 74.
Junior Matthew Fleming (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) fired a 77 (+5) on the afternoon for Scranton, while freshman Danny Harding (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) and junior Ethan Zawatski (Dallas, Pa./Dallas) both carded an 80 (+8). Graduate student Calvin Ralph (Hillsdale, N.J./Pascack Valley) rounded out the scoring for the Royals with an 82 (+10).
Max Cocchi led the way for Wilkes on Saturday with a 78 (+6).
The Royals return to action on Monday afternoon at the Moravian Invitational at Saucon Valley Country Club. Tee time is set for 1 p.m.
