BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Senior Nicholas Campanelli (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) led the way with a team-low round of 80, as The University of Scranton men's golf team finished fifth at the Moravian University/Weyhill Classic on Monday at Saucon Valley Country Club.
Overall, the Royals posted a final score of 329 to place fifth overall in a strong field. Getttysburg won the team title in the event with a final score of 302, followed by Alvernia (307), Moravian (319) and Muhlenberg (325).
For the second straight event, Campanelli led the Royals on the day with his score of 80 (+9). Not far behind Campanelli on the leaderboard was freshman Stephen Butler (Souderton, Pa./Souderton Area), who continued his strong freshman season carding an 82 (+11) at Saucon Valley.
Elsewhere, junior Collin Ennis (Pleasant Mount, Pa./Scranton Prep) finished with an 83, while fellow junior Matthew Fleming (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) carded an 84. Rounding out the lineup in the event was senior John Shaughnessy (Florida, N.Y./S.S. Seward Institute), who shot an 86.
On the individual leaderboard, Joe Polidoro of Alvernia was the medalist, finishing the afternoon with a 74 (+3).
The University of Scranton men's golf team returns to action on Tuesday, as they travel to Wyoming Valley Country Club to take on King's. Things get underway at 1 p.m.
