Men's Golf Sits Second at Landmark Conference Championships

SILVER SPRING, MD (April 15, 2022) -- The University of Scranton men's golf team holds down the second spot at 324 after the opening day of action at the Landmark Conference Championships at Woodholme Country Club. The Royals are three strokes behind Catholic, which leads after posting a 321 on the par 73, 6,969-yard layout.

Freshman Liam Burtis (Binghamton, N.Y. / Seton Catholic Central) shot the low round of the day for Scranton with a six over 79 to sit in a tie for fourth. Graduate student Calvin Ralph (Hillsdale, N.J. / Pascack Valley) finished a stroke behind Burtis at 80 (+7) which earned him a tie for sixth in the opening round while senior John Shaughnessy (Florida, N.Y. / S.S. Seward Institute) shot an eight over 81 and sits in a tie for eighth. 

Junior Matthew Fleming (Richboro, Pa. / Council Rock South) carded an 84 (+11) and is in a tie for 18th while senior Nicholas Campanelli (Manahawkin, N.J. / Southern Regional) rounded out the lineup with an 85 (+12) and sits in a tie for 21st. 

Myles Cherry of Drew University shot the low round of day one with a 77 (+4). 

Saturday's second and final round is set to tee off at 11:00 am at Woodholme Country Club.
