SILVER SPRING, MD (April 16, 2022) -- The University of Scranton men's golf team finished second to Drew University by five strokes (640-645) at the 2022 Landmark Conference Championships this weekend at Woodholme Country Club.
Freshman Liam Burtis (Binghamton, N.Y. / Seton Catholic Central) and graduate student Calvin Ralph (Hillsdale, N.J. / Pascack Valley) finished in a tie for fourth to earn First Team All-Conference honors. Burtis matched his first round score of 79 (+6) to finish at 12 over in the tournament, while Ralph shot a five over 78 on Saturday to also finish at 158 (+12) on the weekend.
Earning a spot on the Second Team All-Conference was junior Matthew Fleming (Richboro, Pa. / Council Rock South) who carded an 80 (+7) in his second round to finish in a five-way tie for 12th at 164 (+18).
Senior John Shaughnessy (Florida, N.Y. / S.S. Seward Institute) shot an 84 (+11) on Saturday to finish in a tie for 17th at 165 (+19) while fellow senior Nicholas Campanelli (Manahawkin, N.J. / Southern Regional) also carded an 84 (+11) which landed him in a tie for 26th at 169 (+23).
Lucas Artigliere of Drew University earned medalist honors with an impressive one over round of 74 on Saturday and a final score of 154 (+8) for the weekend.
The Royals return to action on Monday when they take on Marywood and Wilkes in a local tri-match at Stonehenge. Action gets underway at 1:00 PM.
