WASHINGTON, NJ -- The University of Scranton men's golf team finished the opening round of the Drew Invitational in eighth place at 328 (+40) out of 10 competing teams at Hawk Pointe Country Club. 

McDaniel sits atop the team leader board at 312 (+24). Gus Vickers of Stevens shot the best round of the day at 73 (+1). 

Sophomore Jack Novis (Lancaster, Pa. / Lancaster Catholic) fired off the low round of the day for Scranton at 78 (+6) and is tied for eighth individually. Junior Danny Harding (Vestal, N.Y. / Vestal) finished one stroke behind Novis at 79 (+7) and is tied for 13th. 

Junior Liam Burtis (Binghamton, N.Y. / Seton Catholic Central) carded an 84 (+12), sophomore Jake Guenther (Sea Isle City, N.J. / IMG Academy) shot an 87 (+15) and sophomore Gehrig Shannon (Bernardsville, N.J. / Saint Peter's Prep) finished at 89 (+17) for the Royals. 

Round two gets underway tomorrow at 12:00 PM at Hawk Pointe Country Club.
