WASHINGTON, NJ -- The University of Scranton men's golf team placed seventh out of ten teams with a team score of 641 (+65) at the Drew Invitational hosted at Hawk Pointe Country Club.
Franklin & Marshall edged out McDaniel by one stroke to earn the team title with a final score of 610 (+34). Gus Vickers of Stevens won medalist honors at 143 (-1).
Junior
Danny Harding (Vestal, N.Y. / Vestal) fired off an even par round of 72 to lead the Royals in the second round. Sophomore
Jake Guenther (Sea Isle City, N.J. / IMG Academy) improved by 10 strokes in his second round with a 77 (+5).
Sophomores
Gehrig Shannon (Bernardsville, N.J. / Saint Peter's Prep) and
Jack Novis (Lancaster, Pa. / Lancaster Catholic) each finished with rounds of 82 (+10) while junior
Liam Burtis (Binghamton, N.Y. / Seton Catholic Central) rounded out the lineup for Scranton with an 86 (+14).
The men's golf team returns to action on Tuesday for a tri-match against Wilkes and Clarks Summit at Glenmaura National Golf Club starting at 1:00 PM.
