BOULDER CITY, NEV. – Junior Liam Burtis (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic Central) shot a career-low 71 (-1) and The University of Scranton men's golf team wrapped up action on day two of the NCAA Championships on Wednesday at The Legacy Golf Club in Boulder City.
Following round two, the Royals sat 37th in the team standings with a 307 (+19) on Wednesday and a two-day score of 620 (+44) which fell shy of making the cut. Kenyon College currently sits on top of the team standings.
Burtis tallied a pair of birdies during his round and led the way for Scranton with his 71 (-1), while sophomore Jack Novis (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) carded a 75 (+3). For Burtis, the one-under par 71 eclipsed his previous career-best of 72 that had been set on Apr. 12, 2023.
Fellow sophomore Gehrig Shannon (Bernardsville, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep) added a 79 (+7) and the duo of sophomore Juliano Nieto (Archbald, Pa./Holy Cross) who shot an 82 (+10) and junior Danny Harding (Vestal, Pa./Vestal) with an 84 (+12) rounded things out for the Royals.
