For the second time this season, sophomore defender Aileen Carr of The University of Scranton women's soccer team has been named the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week following a standout performance in a 6–0 victory over Goucher and a scoreless draw against No. 25 NYU.
Carr opened the scoring in the 26th minute against Goucher, drilling a shot into the top left corner of the net for her first career goal, sparking the Royals' offensive outburst. Her early strike set the tone for Scranton's most dominant win of the season, as the team went on to score five more times with contributions from across the lineup.
Earlier in the week, Carr anchored a back line that held firm in a 0–0 draw on the road against nationally ranked NYU, helping secure the Royals' sixth shutout of the year.
This marks her second Landmark Conference weekly honor, adding to her previous recognition as Defensive Athlete of the Week earlier this season.
The Royals (6–2–2) return to action tonight at 7:00 PM at Lycoming College in Landmark Conference action.
