SCRANTON, Pa. – The University of Scranton cross country program earned a pair of postseason distinctions this week, as sophomore Brayden Clarke of the men's team and senior Emily Hopkins of the women's team were each named All-Region by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The recognition marks the first All-Region honor for both runners.
All-Region honorees for the 2025 NCAA Division III Cross Country season were announced Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), following regional championship races held nationwide on Saturday. Athletes earned All-Region distinction by placing inside the top 35 at one of the ten regional championship sites, with eligibility limited to competitors from USTFCCCA member institutions.
Clarke secured his first career All-Region accolade with a 25th-place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship in Newville, Pa., crossing in 26:01.37 to lead Scranton's men's squad. His strong performance helped guide the Royals to an 11th-place team finish in a competitive field.
On the women's side, Hopkins earned her first All-Region award after placing 27th in the 6k with a time of 22:39.12, pacing Scranton to a 14th-place team finish. The senior delivered one of her most composed efforts of the season in a deep championship field.
