SCRANTON, PA -- After advancing with a 76-59 victory over Bates College in the Sweet 16 Friday night, The University of Scranton women's basketball team will host Concordia-Moorhead in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament Saturday night at the John Long Center.

Scranton
- Record: 30-0
- Scranton advanced to the Elite Eight after defeating Framingham State and Otterbein in the first two rounds before earning a 76-59 victory over Bates Friday night in the Sweet 16 at the John Long Center.
- With the win over the Bobcats, the Lady Royals reached the 30-win mark for the sixth time in program history and advanced to the Elite Eight for the third consecutive season. Scranton will also be looking to reach the Final Four for the first time since 2019.
- The Royals jumped out early against Bates behind strong play from Kaci Kranson and Katie Gorski before the bench provided a spark in the first quarter. Elizabeth Bennett and Sophia Talutto each connected on three-pointers as Scranton built a 27-8 lead after the opening period.
- Scranton carried that momentum into halftime, taking a 40-18 advantage into the locker room after Bennett knocked down her second three-pointer and Kranson converted a late layup. The Lady Royals controlled the paint throughout the night and maintained their lead the rest of the way.
- Gorski led Scranton with a career-high 23 points while Kranson added 17 points and 11 rebounds. Meghan Lamanna chipped in 13 points and six rebounds while Bennett finished with 10 points.
- The Lady Royals continue to rank among the national leaders defensively, allowing just 42.1 points per game while also ranking second in Division III in scoring offense at 81.7 points per game.
Scranton NCAA Tournament History
- Scranton is in the NCAA Tournament for an NCAA record 38th time in program history and the 13th straight season, the longest active streak in Division III.
- The Lady Royals are making their third straight Elite Eight appearance and own a 78-40 all-time record in the NCAA Tournament.
Concordia-Moorhead
- Record: 26-4
- Concordia-Moorhead advanced to the Elite Eight with victories in the opening two rounds over Wis.-Superior and Ripon before earning a 64-59 victory over Johns Hopkins in the Sweet 16 Friday afternoon.
- Concordia relied on strong rebounding and fourth-quarter execution to secure the victory. The Cobbers trailed 17-13 after the first quarter but responded by outscoring Johns Hopkins 17-9 in the second quarter to take a 30-26 lead into halftime.
- The third quarter featured multiple lead changes before Genevieve Gruba drilled a key three-pointer with 32 seconds remaining to give Concordia a 43-41 lead heading into the final period.
- The Cobbers closed the game with their strongest offensive stretch, shooting 50 percent from the field in the fourth quarter while converting seven of eight free throws down the stretch to seal the five-point win.
- Sophomore forward Maya Metcalf anchored Concordia on the glass with nine points and a career-high 22 rebounds, including 19 defensive boards. Alexa Snesrud finished with 13 points and four assists while Molly Musland added 10 points.
- Concordia also controlled the rebounding battle 45-37 and received a major lift from its bench, which outscored Johns Hopkins 26-9 in the win.
Inside the Series
- Saturday night's game marks just the second meeting between the two programs. Scranton won the first matchup, 60-59, during the 1989 season as part of the Colorado College Tourney.Â
