SCRANTON, Pa. – Senior John Heitzman of The University of Scranton baseball team was named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Heitzman guided the Royals to two victories last week against Marywood University and Case Western Reserve University, batting .375 across three games. Scranton defeated Marywood University 9-4 on Wednesday, as Heitzman had three RBI and went 2 for 4 at the plate with a triple.
On Saturday, the Fairfield, CT native batted .444 against No.11 Case Western Reserve, went 4 for 5 with two RBI, and one run helping lead Scranton to an 11-6 victory over the ranked opponent. Heitzman totaled seven hits on the week with an impressive five RBI.
The Royals improved to 2-2 on the season and will face off against Ithaca College on Wednesday at Volpe Field in Scranton, with first pitch set for 4:30 PM.
