SCRANTON, Pa. -- Junior attacker Jillian Lopez and junior midfielder Eileen Hewitt were named Landmark Conference Athletes of the Week after helping lead the Royals to a ranked win against No. 18 Haverford College this weekend to improve to 2-2 on the year.
Hewitt, who was named Landmark Defensive Player of the Week, totaled 10 ground balls, nine caused turnovers, and nine draw controls across the team's two games. In the win over No. 18 Haverford, she posted four ground balls, four caused turnovers, and four draw controls. She led the team with six ground balls, five caused turnovers, and five draw controls in a narrow loss to No. 7 York. The Downingtown, Pa., native also contributed offensively with six goals and one assist during the week. This marks the third time Hewitt has been named Defensive Player of the Week.
Lopez paced Scranton's offense, recording nine goals and two assists over the two contests. She netted a career-high seven goals in the 13-8 victory against Haverford and added two goals and one assist versus No. 7 York. It is the second time Lopez has earned Landmark Offensive Athlete of the Week recognition.
The Royals are back in action this Wednesday against Gettysburg College, with the opening draw set for 5:00 PM in Gettysburg, Pa.
