Scranton:

  • Record: 32-0
  • The Lady Royals secured their spot in the title game and set a new program record with 32 wins following a 60-52 victory over NYU in Thursday's national semifinal.
  • Scranton will appear in its first National Championship game in 41 years, dating back to when the 1984-85 team won the title.
  • The Lady Royals have also earned tournament victories over Concordia-Moorhead (67-42), Bates (76-59), Otterbein (82-43), and Framingham State (104-39).
  • Scranton's success has been fueled by a balanced and efficient style of play on both ends of the floor. Offensively, the Lady Royals emphasize ball movement and spacing, consistently generating high-percentage looks while shooting efficiently from the field and from three-point range. Multiple players average double figures, making them difficult to defend.
  • Defensively, Scranton is known for its aggressive, disruptive approach, forcing turnovers and converting them into transition opportunities. The Lady Royals apply consistent pressure on the perimeter while protecting the rim, creating a well-rounded defensive unit that has limited opponents throughout the season. Their ability to control tempo, take care of the basketball, and capitalize on mistakes has been a defining factor in their undefeated run.
