Scranton Women’s Basketball Sweeps Major Awards as Landmark Conference Announces All-Conference Selections

SCRANTON, Pa. -- The University of Scranton women's basketball team swept the Landmark Conference major awards and had five student-athletes earn All-Landmark Conference honors, as announced by the conference office today. 

Kaci Kranson was named Landmark Player of the Year, Kaeli Romanowski earned Defensive Player of the Year honors, and Sophia Taultto was selected as Rookie of the Year, while Ben O'Brien and his staff were recognized as Coaching Staff of the Year. 

Kranson and Romanowski were also named First Team All-Conference selections, while Elizabeth Bennett, Katie Gorski and Meghan Lamanna all earned Second Team All-Conference honors. 


Kaci Kranson - Landmark Player of the Year / First Team All-Conference  

  • After earning the honor last season, this marks the second time Kranson has been named Landmark Player of the Year and makes her just the third player in Scranton history to win the award in back-to-back seasons. 
  • Kranson led the Landmark in points per game (18.7), field goal percentage (.524) and three-point percentage (.429), while also totaling 148 rebounds and 38 steals.  
  • The Scranton, Pa., native became the all-time Landmark Conference scoring leader this season with 1,922 career points, surpassing fellow Lady Royal Meredith Mesaris. 
  • She scored in double figures in all but two games and recorded two double-doubles this season, including one in the Landmark Championship game to earn Tournament MVP honors. 
  • Kranson earned First Team All-Conference honors for the fourth time in her career, becoming just the third player in program history to accomplish the feat, joining Jennifer Nish and Megan Kopecki. 

Kaeli Romanowski – Landmark Defensive Player of the Year / First Team All-Conference 
  • Romanowski earned Landmark Defensive Player of the Year honors for the second time in three seasons, previously claiming the award in 2023-24. She joins Emily Sheehan as the only two-time Defensive Players of the Year in program history. 
  • Romanowski anchors a Lady Royals defense that leads the nation in points allowed per game (42.1). She leads the conference and ranks eighth nationally with 104 steals, while adding 149 rebounds. The Lake Ariel, Pa., native also set a new conference record with her 104 steals this season. 
  • She has also been a key contributor on offense, leading the Landmark with 116 assists and ranking third in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio. 
  • A First Team All-Conference selection as a senior this year, she is now a three-time All-Conference honoree, having earned First Team recognition as a sophomore and Second Team honors as a junior. 

Sophia Talutto – Landmark Rookie of the Year
  • Talutto becomes the third Lady Royal to earn the award in the last four years, joining current teammates Meghan Lamanna and Kaci Kranson in earning the honor. 
  • The Dunmore, Pa., native has played in every game this season, averaging 7.3 points per game and 1.16 rebounds per game, while ranking second on the team with 58 steals. 

Elizabeth Bennett – Second Team All-Conference 
  • This marks the second straight season Bennett has earned Second Team All-Conference as the Staten Island, N.Y., native posted career highs with 12.4 points per game, 126 rebounds, 31 blocks and 21 steals.  
  • Bennett was also one of the team's most consistent shooters, connecting at a .496 clip from the field and .376 from three-point range. 
  • She scored in double figures in 20 games this season, including eight straight to close out the regular season and the Landmark playoffs, and recorded a pair of double-doubles during her junior year. 

Katie Gorski – Second Team All-Conference
  • Gorski was named All-Conference for the first time in her career following a breakout junior campaign. 
  • The Pine Brook, N.Y., native averaged 11 points per game to go along with 157 rebounds, 29 blocks and 40 steals, all career highs. She also ranked third in the conference in field goal percentage, shooting .515 from the field. 
  • Gorski scored in double figures in 16 games this season and recorded a team-high four double-doubles, including one in the Landmark Championship game. 

Meghan Lamanna – Second Team All-Conference
  • Lamanna was named to the Second Team, earning the All-Conference honors for the first time in her career. 
  • The New Providence, N.J., native averaged 10.3 points per game while adding 56 assists and 52 rebounds. 
  • One of the top three-point shooters in the nation, she ranks ninth in the country with a .425 three-point percentage, while also shooting a career-best .452 from the field. 
  • Lamanna scored double figures in 16 games this season, including a career-high 25 points against Elizabethtown on Feb. 7. 

Coaching Staff of the Year 

Head Coach: Ben O'Brien 
Assistant Coaches: Hannah Angelini, Tom Kosin, and Erica Haefele 

  • Scranton's staff was named Landmark Coaching Staff of the Year, marking the second time under O'Brien and the fourth time in program history. 
  • The Royals are one of just three teams in the nation to enter the NCAA Tournament undefeated, compiling a 27-0 overall record and a perfect 18-0 mark in Landmark play. O'Brien and his staff guided the Lady Royals to their 11th straight conference title, defeating Elizabethtown College by 40 points, the largest margin of victory in Landmark Championship Game history. 
  • Scranton will look to make another deep run in the NCAA Tournament, with its sights set on a national championship.
