Senior Sam Sharrow has been named Peggy's Scranton Athlete of the Week after a record-breaking performance at the AARTFC Regional Championships that secured her place among the nation's top long jumpers heading into the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships this week.Â
Sharrow delivered a standout showing for The University of Scranton women's track and field team, finishing second in the long jump while breaking her own program record with a mark of 5.80 meters. The performance moved her into a tie for 19th nationally in Division III and secured her qualification for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
In addition to her success in the long jump, Sharrow helped the Royals post strong performances in both relay events. She teamed with Samantha Solar, Kaia Grantham, and Jocelyn Smith to finish second in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 47.60.
Sharrow also ran on Scranton's record-breaking 4x400-meter relay team alongside Olivia Miller, Jocelyn Smith, and Tasia Miniotis. The quartet placed sixth with a new program-record time of 3:51.70.
For the week, Sharrow played a major role in multiple top finishes and program records while earning a spot on the national stage for the Royals.
