Sophomore goalkeeper Ruby Sorber was named the Landmark Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week after a standout week in net for the Royals.
Sorber logged 140 minutes across two games, making 19 saves while not allowing a goal against Vassar College and Susquehanna University.
The Hunlock Creek, Pa., native opened the week by recording a clean sheet against Vassar College, holding the Brewers scoreless through 60 minutes of regulation and an additional 20 minutes of overtime. She made a career-high 11 saves in the shootout loss.
Sorber followed that effort with another strong defensive performance, recording eight saves in a 1-0 shutout victory over Susquehanna University in Scranton's Landmark Conference opener on Saturday.
Through eight games this season, the sophomore goalkeeper has posted a 0.81 goals-against average, 33 saves, an .825 save percentage and four shutouts in her first year as the Royals' starting keeper.
Sorber and the Royals return to action on Wednesday afternoon when they host No. 14 Stevens at 4 p.m. at Weiss Field in Scranton.
