SCRANTON, Pa.—The University of Scranton wrestling team
posted a 1-3 record at the Electric City Duals Saturday afternoon
at the Long Center.
The University of Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC) won the team
title with a 4-0 record, followed by the Apprentice School (Va.) at
3-1.Penn State-Dubois won a tiebreaker with Scranton and Penn
College of Technology for third place honors.
Three Royal wrestlers—sophomore Shawn Flesche (Northvale, NJ/Northern Valley
Regional), freshman Sal Montuori (Clark, NJ/Arthur Johnson
Regional), and junior Chris Silakoski (Trenton, NJ/Notre
Dame)—went 3-1 in their respective weight
classes.
Flesche picked up three wins in the 174 weight class to improve to
5-3 on the season and 18-17 in his career. He downed Ryan
Terwilliger of Penn St.-Dubois, 9-3, Kenny Lowry of Apprentice,
2-0, and picked up a win by forfeit against Penn College of
Technology.
Silakoski is now 4-3 on the season and 31-32 in his career after
pinning Alec Pence of UMBC in overtime and Luke Hanson of Appentice
and pulling off a 10-0 major decision against Alex Muller of Penn
College of Technology.
Montuori improved to 5-3 on the season with three wins
today. He posted a 6-2 decision against Chris Urps of UMBC,
pinned Manuel Aguilar Garibay of Penn St.-Dubois, and pulled out a
12-10 decision in overtime against Aaron Shrawder of Penn College
of Technology.
Scranton will return to action next Saturday, November 17, against
Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, beginning at 2:00
p.m.
