Calimano Stays Unbeaten As Wrestling Falls At Elizabethtown, 34-12

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The University of Scranton wrestling team returned from the holiday break on Wednesday night, but could not overcome a tough Elizabethtown College squad in a 34-12 loss.

In the loss, junior heavyweight Eric Calimano (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) remained undefeated with a 6-2 victory over Elizabethtown's Eric Eckstein at 285 pounds. The win improved Calimano to 14-0 this season, including 10-0 in dual meet competition. He is now 45-11 for his career.

Scranton (6-5) also picked up a win from freshman Andrew Gombas (Warren, N.J./Bound Brook) at 174 pounds when he picked up an 8-2 decision over Elizabethtown's Quinn Ruble.

The Royals also received a forfeit victory from junior Ian Evans (Laurys Station, Pa./Parkland) at 157 pounds, his 18th victory of the season and 79th of his career.

Scranton will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 9, when the Royals compete in the Washington & Lee Invitational starting at 9:30 a.m. in Lexington, Va.
