The weather turned chilly on Tuesday night at Fitzpatrick Field, but The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team stayed red-hot on offense, scoring in spurts both early and late to defeat Cabrini, 17-10, for the team's fourth straight win and the seventh in eight games.

Scranton (10-5) jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the opening nine minutes, never relinquished the lead and later used a four-goal run late in the game to secure the victory. Junior attacker Meghan Kerr (Warwick, N.Y./John S. Burke Catholic) had another big game to lead the way, finishing with five goals and two assists.

Sophomore midfielder Kailyn Angelo (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) continued to dominate in the middle of the field, setting a school record in the process. She finished the night with 15 draw controls, a career high, giving her 183 career draw controls, surpassing the previous school record of 181, held by Diana Rocklein (2006-09).

Senior midfielder Erin Allen (Syosset, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy Academy) added four goals and freshman attacker Elena Gallo (East Meadow, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) tallied three times. Senior midfielder Fiona Keelan (New Rochelle, N.Y./Mamaroneck) and freshman midfielder Christine Olert (Somers, N.Y./Katonah) each had two goals and two assists, freshman midfielder Kaitlyn Murphy (Somers, N.Y./North Salem) had a goal and sophomore defender Rachel Strock (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) added an assist.

Kerr now has 48 goals and 23 assists for 71 points this season, all career highs. She is tied for eighth in points, 12th in goals and tied for 11th in assists on the school's all-time single-season lists. For her career, she now has 107 goals and 54 assists for 161 points, putting her 16th in goals, eighth in assists and 10th in points on the career scoring lists at Scranton.

The 10 victories this season are the most since the Royals went 11-7 in 2012, and mark a career high for fourth-year head coach Cindy Wilson. The 17 goals by Scranton marked the fourth straight game the team has scored at least 12, all victories. The Royals are averaging 17.25 goals in those four victories.

Thanks to Angelo's play, Scranton held a 19-11 edge in draw controls, helping them hold the edge in possession and leading to a 38-30 lead in shots. The Royals also forced 27 turnovers by Cabrini (11-5) while committing 24 of their own.

Junior goalkeeper Marne Rossetti (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) also had a solid game in goal, making 11 saves. She now has 10 or more saves in three straight games and four of the last five.

Scranton will wrap up regular season play on Saturday when the Royals travel to Washington, D.C. to take on Catholic in a Landmark Conference game at 1 p.m.
