Midfielder Eileen Hewitt and attacker Jillian Lopez of The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team were named All-Americans by USA Lacrosse Magazine, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Hewitt earned Third Team All-American honors, while Lopez received Honorable Mention recognition.
Eileen Hewitt - Third Team All-AmericanÂ
- This marks Hewitt's first All-American recognition from USA Lacrosse Magazine.
- The Downingtown, Pennsylvania native finished the season with 93 points on 52 goals and 41 assists, all career bests. She also set career highs with 69 ground balls, 47 caused turnovers, and 109 draw controls.
- The junior ranked fifth in the Landmark Conference in goals, fourth in assists, and third in points. She also finished first in the conference in caused turnovers, second in ground balls, and tied for first in draw controls.
- Hewitt recorded 17 multi-goal games this season and tallied at least four points in 15 contests, including an eight-point performance in the Landmark Semifinals against Susquehanna.
- During the year, Hewitt became just the second player in program history to surpass 200 career draw controls. She also eclipsed 200 career points in the NCAA First Round game against St. Mary's, recording two goals and four assists.
- Hewitt was named the Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Year and an All-Landmark Conference First Team Selection.
Jillian Lopez - Honorable Mention All-American
- This marks the first All-American recognition from USA Lacrosse Magazine of Lopez's career.
- Lopez set career highs offensively across the board this season. She ranks fourth in the nation with 86 goals and added 12 assists for a total of 101 points during her junior campaign. The junior ranked second in the conference in both goals and points, while also finishing 10th in draw controls with 61.
- Lopez joins Bridget Lee and Liz Baumbach as the only players in program history to surpass 100 points in a single season.
- The Sayville, New York native set a new single-season program record for goals, breaking Baumbach's previous mark of 75 goals set in 2002 and 2003.
- Lopez scored multiple goals in 20 of her 21 games this year and tallied at least five goals on 10 different occasions.
- Earlier this season, Lopez was named Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Year, earned Landmark Tournament MVP honors for the second straight season, and was selected to the All-Landmark Conference First Team.
