Wrestling Suffers Dual Meet Setback at Muhlenberg

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The University of Scranton wrestling team dropped a 25-17 decision to the Muhlenberg College Mules in dual meet action on Wednesday night at Deitrich Field House in Allentown.

Scranton falls to 5-1 in dual meets on the season with the setback, while Muhlenberg is now 1-0.

With the Mules leading 3-0 after the first match of the evening, senior Matthew Murawski (Harrington Park, N.J./Northern Valley - Old Tappan) gave the Royals a 4-3 edge with a major decision (10-1) over the Mules' Ricky Caamano at 133 pounds. The match remained close throughout and senior Brandon Judge (Eynon, Pa./Valley View) continued his recent hot stretch for the Royals by pinning Chris Sockler in just 1:04 at 149 pounds.

Judge has now won each of his last six matches with five of those coming by pin fall and garnered Most Outstanding Wrestler honors at Sunday's Electric City Duals.

The Royals got consecutive victories from junior Jeremiah Oakes (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) via major decision (8-0) at 165 pounds and graduate student William Laughlin (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) via decision (1-0) at 174 to take a 17-15 lead, but Muhlenberg took the final three matches of the evening for the 25-17 victory.

The University of Scranton wrestling teams returns to the mat for the Penn Tech Invitational on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
