ANNVILLE, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team overcame a three-goal halftime deficit by dominating in the final two periods en route to an 11-8 win at Lebanon Valley on Saturday afternoon.

The Royals (1-1) trailed at the break, 7-4, after the Dutchmen (1-2) used a four-goal run between the first and second periods to take control. But sophomore midfielder Devyn Tanajewski (Ridgewood, N.J./Lakeland Regional) scored the first two goals of the second half to spark 6-0 Royals run for a 10-7 lead with 10:53 to play.

Lebanon Valley pulled within two with a goal with 4:16 left, but freshman midfielder Molly McCarren (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) put the Dutchmen on ice when she scored with 1:34 left.

Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Boldis (Merrick, N.Y./Sanford H. Calhoun) played a key role after entering the game with the Royals trailing 7-3. She saved seven of the eight shots she faced over the final 35:24 to earn her first career victory.

Tanajewski, sophomore attacker Erin Reich (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) and senior attacker Jennifer Williams (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville) each had two goals to lead Scranton. McCarren was joined by sophomore Kayleigh Stalter (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook), junior attacker Emma Fitzpatrick (Glen Head, N.Y./North Shore), freshman attacker Allie Halfpenny (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) and sophomore attacker Tara Kotten (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown South) with a goal apiece.

Junior midfielder Maggie Smith (Glen Rock, N.J./Glen Rock) and junior defender Caroline Miller (Huntington, N.Y./Elwood-John H. Glenn) both had assists for the Royals, who held a 34-23 edge in shots.

Scranton also committed just 12 turnovers while causing 19 miscues by Lebanon Valley. The Royals were impressive clearing the ball, failing just once in 20 tries. That helped overcome a slight 15-13 disadvantage in ground balls.

Halfpenny and sophomore defender Nicolina Mauro (South Hempstead, N.Y./South Side) both had three ground balls to lead Scranton. Halfpenny also led the team in caused turnovers with three.

The Royals will make their 2022 home debut on Tuesday, March 1, when they host No. 10 The College of New Jersey at 4 p.m. at Weiss Field.
