Junior Maggie Keys of The University of Scranton field hockey team has been named the Peggy's Scranton Athlete of the Week after playing a pivotal role in a pair of dominant Landmark Conference victories that extended the Royals' win streak to six games.
Keys was outstanding across both matchups, totaling one goal and five assists in wins over Moravian and Juniata.
In Wednesday's 5–0 victory over Moravian, Keys registered two assists, marking her third multi-assist game of the season, as Scranton controlled play from start to finish. She followed that up with a record-setting performance in Saturday's 7–0 win over Juniata, contributing one goal and three assists. Her third assist of the game was her 16th of the season, breaking the program's single-season record for assists.
Keys factored directly into four of Scranton's seven goals against Juniata, scoring on a reverse shot and setting up multiple teammates with pinpoint passes inside the circle.
Behind Keys' leadership, the Royals improved to 12–3 overall and remained undefeated in Landmark play at 6–0, outscoring their opponents 12–0 on the week.
Keys and the Royals return to action on Wednesday night with a 7 p.m. Landmark Conference matchup at Wilkes in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
