ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The University of Scranton wrestling team put together a strong collective effort on Saturday, finishing fifth of 10 teams at the Blue Jay Invitational hosted by Elizabethtown College.
The Royals earned 108 team points and produced five placewinners, highlighted by Donell Young's runner-up finish at 174 and Jack McCaffrey's third-place performance at 184.
Top Performers
2nd – Donell Young (174 lbs)
Young advanced to the finals with an 8–3 decision, a 23–10 major decision, and a fall in 2:24 before medically defaulting in the championship match.
3rd – Jack McCaffrey (184 lbs)
McCaffrey posted three strong wins, including a technical fall and a major decision, to take third after dropping a semifinal decision.
5th – Joseph Cappello (125 lbs)
Cappello delivered an excellent tournament run featuring two pins and two major decision victories on his way to a top-five finish.
5th – Kevin McCarvill (165 lbs)
McCarvill powered his way to fifth place with a dominant day that included five pins.
6th – Charles Arobone (133 lbs)
Arobone earned sixth place after compiling two pins and two decision wins.
