BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's track and field team opened its 2025-26 indoor season with an impressive showing at the Mountain Hawk Opener at Lehigh University, posting multiple top-three finishes, a pair of event victories, and several strong early-season marks across sprints, hurdles, mid-distance, jumps, and relays.
School Records:
Pentathlon:
- Senior Molly White opened her season with a standout third-place overall finish in the indoor pentathlon, highlighted by strong efforts in the 60m hurdles, high jump, long jump, and 800 meters. White set a school record in the pentathlon (3,279) and the 60m hurdles (9.34). Junior Rachael Johns placed sixth overall with solid performances across multiple events, including the hurdles, high jump, and long jump.
Sprints:
- Sam Sharrow headlined the day with a first-place finish in the 200 meters, clocking 25.83 to earn 10 points and set a new school record. Junior Jocelyn Smith followed closely in second with a time of 25.89, while sophomore Kaia Grantham placed sixth in 26.90.
- In the 60-meter final, Smith earned a podium finish by taking third in 7.87, and Grantham added a fifth-place finish at 8.03. In the prelims, Sharrow set a new school record of 7.75.
Mid-Distance:
- Senior Tasia Miniotis opened her senior campaign with a strong runner-up finish in the 400 meters, running 1:00.97. Junior Claudia Huber placed fourth (1:05.37), and sophomore Bella Fay followed in fifth (1:05.53).
- In the 500 meters, senior Olivia Miller delivered a personal best of 1:19.10 to finish third.
- Sophomore Emma DiLemme added a scoring performance in the 1,000 meters, placing fourth in 3:11.64, while sophomore LeighAnn Livio followed in fifth at 3:24.83.
Hurdles:
- Sophomore Isabella Santos reached the 60-meter hurdles final and scored with a sixth-place finish in 10.35.
Field Events:
- Sharrow earned her second event victory of the weekend in the long jump, leaping 5.52m (18-01.50). Sophomore Sam Cebulski (4.91m) and junior Madeline Samar (4.76m) also finished inside the top ten.
- In the high jump, junior Elena Funk tied for third at 1.46m, while freshman Brianna Hahn also cleared 1.46m to take fifth.
- Freshman Afua Apau led Scranton in the throws, placing 13th in the shot put (10.47m) and 14th in the weight throw (12.45m). Sophomore Sarah Kerr added a personal best in the weight throw at 9.31m.
Relays:
- The Royals closed the meet with a pair of strong efforts in the 4x400-meter relay finishing second (A team) and fourth (B team).
