ITHACA, N.Y. – The University of Scranton women's track and field team turned in an impressive two-day performance at the Ithaca Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, highlighted by multiple podium finishes and a pair of program records.
The weekend concluded in historic fashion on Sunday as senior Molly White captured first place in the pentathlon, posting a program-record score of 3,346 points to cap off the meet for the Royals.
Kyrianna Nemitz earned a runner-up finish in the 5,000 meters, crossing the line in 18:11.60, while Sam Sharrow finished second in the long jump with a mark of 5.47 meters.
Another program record fell in the relays as the 4x200 team of Tasia Miniotis, Olivia Miller, Kaia Grantham, and Sam Sharrow placed second with a program-record time of 1:45.49.
The Royals added several more podium finishes throughout the meet. Emily Hopkins placed third in the mile at 5:14.14, and Jocelyn Smith finished third in the 60 meters in 7.93 seconds, while Kaia Grantham placed seventh at 8.11 seconds.
On the track, Olivia Miller continued her strong season with a second-place finish in the 200 meters, clocking 26.94 seconds, while Callie Gorman placed fifth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:51.58.
The final event on Saturday saw the 4x400 relay team of Tasia Miniotis, Olivia Miller, Ella Wiskidensky, and Helen Socorso finish second in 4:08.20, closing out a strong opening day for Scranton.
The Royals will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Big Apple Invitational hosted at Ocean Breeze.
