ITHACA, N.Y. — The University of Scranton women's track & field team delivered a record-setting performance Saturday at the Marc Deneault Invitational, hosted by Cornell University, breaking six school records and posting multiple top-10 marks in Landmark Conference history.
Sam Sharrow led the way for the Royals with a pair of program records and an event title. Sharrow won the 300 meters in a school-record time of 40.99 seconds after earlier setting a new program mark in the 60-meter preliminaries with a time of 7.73 seconds. She also added a sixth-place finish in the long jump.
Scranton also turned in a strong showing in the 500 meters, highlighted by a runner-up finish from Olivia Miller, who posted a program- and Landmark Conference-record time of 1:16.88. Molly White followed closely behind in third place at 1:17.16 and later placed eighth in the long jump.
In the 1,000 meters, Kyrianna Nemitz placed second while breaking the school record in 3:00.75. Emily Hopkins added a seventh-place finish in the same event with a time of 3:07.83.
The Royals added another top-four performance in the 300 meters, as Tasia Miniotis placed fourth in 42.52 seconds.
In the field events, Afua Apau broke the program record in the shot put with a throw of 11.48 meters, finishing 11th overall. Peyton Fox also set a school record in the weight throw with a mark of 13.74 meters, placing 15th.
Scranton's six school records and multiple conference all-time marks highlighted one of the strongest overall performances of the season as the Royals continue their strong indoor campaign.
