Scranton Women’s Track & Field Shines with Multiple Wins, Records at Coach Pollard Invitational

The University of Scranton women's track and field team turned in a strong weekend at the Coach Pollard Invitational, hosted by Moravian University, highlighted by multiple top-five finishes, relay victories, and several program-record performances across the board.

Scranton showcased its depth in both track and field events, collecting wins in the relays while continuing to raise the standard in the program record book.

Program Records:

A number of Royals delivered record-breaking performances over the weekend:

  • Molly White broke her own program record in the triple jump (11.82m) and won the event
  • Sam Sharrow set a new program record in the 100m prelims, clocking 12.04 seconds
  • Molly White also set a program record in the 100m hurdles prelims at 14.75 seconds
  • Kyrianna Nemitz continued her standout season, topping her own program record in the 1500m with a time of 4:37.09, good for third place
  • Afua Apau delivered a program-record throw of 12.41 meters in the shot put, placing third

Top Performances:

  • Afua Apau led the Royals in the field events with a third-place finish in the shot put (12.41m) and added a fifth-place finish in the discus (31.16m). Peyton Fox placed fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 46.93 meters.
  • On the track, Olivia Miller earned a second-place finish in the 800m with a time of 2:18.87. Callie Gorman finished fifth in the 10,000m, crossing in 41:09.98, while Tasia Miniotis took eighth in the 400m at 59.78 seconds.
  • Kaia Grantham continued her strong sprint season with a fourth-place finish in the 200m, posting a time of 25.85 seconds. Sam Sharrow also impressed beyond her record-setting sprint, finishing second in the long jump with a mark of 5.60 meters.

Relay Success:

Scranton's relay squads were dominant, capturing two event wins:

  • The 4x100 relay team of Grantham, Sharrow, Solar, and Smith took first place in 47.86 seconds
  • The 4x400 relay team of White, Miniotis, Smith, and Wiskidensky also earned a victory, finishing in 3:56.91

The Royals will return to action on Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25 at the Paul Kaiser Invitational, hosted by Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.
