The University of Scranton women's track and field team put together a standout performance this weekend at the Paul Kaiser Classic, earning multiple event victories, podium finishes, and school-record marks across both the track and field events.
Program Records:
- Afua Apau won the shot put with a program-record throw of 12.50 meters
- Peyton Fox set two school records:
- Hammer throw: 50.69 meters (2nd place)
- Discus throw: 38.94 meters (4th place)
Olivia Miller led the Royals on the track with a win in the 400 meters, taking first place in 58.60. Molly White also captured a victory, winning the 400-meter hurdles in 1:04.05.
In the distance events, Scranton continued its strong showing as Callie Gorman placed third in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:50.47, while Emily Hopkins finished sixth in the 1500 meters in 4:50.27.
In the sprints, Ella Widkidensky added a top-10 finish, placing 10th in the 200 meters with a time of 26.90.
In the field events, Gretchen Haray added a tied for eighth-place finish in the high jump at 1.40 meters.
Scranton will now shift its focus to the Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships, scheduled for May 2-3 at Juniata College. More information on the championships will be released in the coming days.
