Douglas of Softball Named Peggy's Scranton Athlete of the Week

Sophomore Emma Douglas has been named Peggy's Scranton Athlete of the Week after a standout week in the circle for The University of Scranton softball team, highlighted by a record-setting performance and a heavy workload across multiple appearances.

Douglas anchored the Royals in an 8-3 victory over Susquehanna University in game one of a Landmark Conference doubleheader, pitching every inning of the contest while allowing just three runs and striking out five. In the process, she recorded her 112th strikeout of the season, breaking the program's single-season record previously held by Jennifer Sweeney (111 in 2019).

Earlier in the week, Douglas also delivered a strong performance against Lebanon Valley College, striking out eight batters over eight innings pitched in non-conference action.

She followed those efforts by again shouldering the load in the circle against Susquehanna, pitching every inning of the doubleheader while battling through a tight pitchers' duel in game two, ultimately taking the tough-luck loss in a 2-0 defeat.

For the week, Douglas showcased durability and consistency while moving to the top of the program's single-season strikeout leaderboard.
