DALLAS, Pa.—Senior defender Katie
Slade (Buckingham, Pa./Central Bucks East) and
first-year players Mariah
Guy (Ocean Township, N.J./Ocean Township) and
Christine Dredger (Glen Head, N.Y./Lady of Mercy
Academy) scored three goals apiece to lead The University
of Scranton to a 20-6 victory over Misericordia University Thursday
afternoon.
The Royals also received two goals and four assists from
sophomore midfielder Jilliana DePaolera (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon),
two goals and three assists from senior attacker Caroline Pryor (Robbinsville, N.J./Notre
Dame), and two goals and two assists from first-year
attacker Kerry Sullivan (Oceanport, N.J./Shore
Regional) to improve to 10-4.
Junior midfielder Emily Foley (Hunlock Creek, Pa./Northwest
Area) led the Cougars with two goals and junior midfielder Krista
Shenk (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) had a goal and an
assist. Misericordia ends its season with a 3-13 record.
Dredger scored all three of her goals during a 12-minute span of
the first half to help the Royals erase an early 2-0 deficit en
route to a 13-4 lead by intermission.
Sophomore goalies Kathleen Smart (Hatboro, Pa./Archbishop Wood)
and Adriana Daley (Clifton, N.J./Clifton)
each played 30 minutes in goal for Scranton and combined to make
three saves.
Today's win snapped a two-game losing streak for Scranton, which
reached the 10-win plateau for the first time since 2006 and for
the seventh time in the program's 12-year history.
The Royals will close out the regular-season this Saturday,
April 30, against 10th-ranked Catholic University in Landmark
Conference action in Washington, DC, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
