The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team scored the first eight goals of the game and cruised to a 13-7 victory over Misericordia University in a non-conference matchup at Fitzpatrick Field on Wednesday afternoon.

The Royals (5-3) have now won five of their last six and bounced back after a tough 17-16 loss at Catholic on Thursday, March 28, their last time out.

Sophomore midfielder Emily Goss (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) got things started by scoring twice in the opening 23 seconds for Scranton. Junior attacker Kerry Sullivan (Oceanport, N.J./Shore Regional) followed with three straight goals as the Royals led, 5-0, less than six minutes in.

Scranton then got goals from senior midfielder Jilliana DePaolera (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon), freshman midfielder Erin Allen (Syosset, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy Academy) and junior attacker Christine Dredger (Glen Head, N.Y./Lady of Mercy Academy) to lead, 8-0, at the 20:48 mark.

Misericordia (0-9) scored twice to cut the deficit to 8-2 at halftime, but Scranton opened the second half with three straight goals to put the game away.

Sullivan finished with three goals while freshman midfielder Bridget Gallaher (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) had two goals and an assist. Sophomore attacker Sheila Mulligan (Ardmore, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) had three assists, Goss had three goals and senior attacker Deanna Giorno (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) added two assists.

Goss now has 31 goals on the season while Sullivan has 19. Giorno's two assists gave her 151 career points, two away from moving into seventh place on the all-time list at Scranton.

Sophomore goalie Emily Towey (Abington, Pa./Abington) made seven saves, all in the second half.

Scranton returns to action when it hosts Goucher College in a Landmark Conference matchup on Saturday, April 6, at 1 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Field.
