Sophomore goalkeeper Ruby Sorber added another accolade to her standout season on Wednesday, earning DIII National Player of the Week Honorable Mention recognition.
Sorber helped the Royals post a pair of victories during the week, including a 4-3 penalty shootout win over No. 14 Stevens and a 6-1 victory against Goucher. She finished the two-game stretch with 12 saves while playing all 140 minutes in goal.
Against Stevens, Sorber turned in one of her strongest performances of the season, stopping 10 shots throughout regulation and two overtime periods. She then delivered when it mattered most in the shootout, making three straight saves to keep the Ducks scoreless and preserve the Royals' ranked victory.
The Hunlock Creek, Pa., native capped the week with two saves in Scranton's win over Goucher.
Sorber has been a key piece of the Royals' success in her first season as the team's starting goalkeeper. Through 11 games, she owns a 0.94Â goals-against average, 45 saves, an .804 save percentage and four shutouts.
Scranton returns to action this Saturday at home against Elizabethtown College, with action set to begin at 1:00 PM at Weiss Field in Scranton
