The Basics
How it Happened
- Lycoming jumped out to an early nine-point lead in the opening five minutes behind strong perimeter shooting and an effective presence in the paint. The Warriors built their advantage to as many as 17 points in the first half and carried a 15-point lead into the break.
- Sophomore Sammy Tornabene paced the Royals with 13 first-half points.
- Scranton began to chip away in the second half. Trailing by 12 at the 13-minute mark, the Royals put together a 10-0 run to pull within two. Carr and senior Luca Baratta each connected from beyond the arc during the surge.
- The Royals stayed within striking distance down the stretch thanks to timely scoring from Tornabene and junior Nick Ruisi. Tornabene converted a free throw with just under a minute remaining to trim Lycoming's lead to 69-68.
- The Warriors had an opportunity to push the margin back to three at the line with 17 seconds to play but missed both attempts. On the ensuing possession, Carr was fouled and calmly sank both free throws to give Scranton its first lead of the night with two seconds remaining.
- Freshman Ben Robinson then came up with a steal on Lycoming's final possession, sealing the Royals' 70-69 comeback victory.
